Transmission Line Towers can be recorded with two independent classifications. One field identifies route duty: straight, tension, corner, transposition, terminal, or crossing. The other identifies visible form, with cup and barrel arrangements available beside cat-head and the two character-shaped options.
Keeping those fields apart prevents a location function from being mistaken for a shape name. An inspection card can assign one duty code and one form code to the structure being observed, then retain a separate location index for the position along the route. Form groups may place cup with barrel, while cat-head and the two character forms remain identifiable by name. Duty groups may place straight and tension apart from corner, terminal, transposition, and crossing positions. Classification vocabulary keeps this inspection note distinct from clearance planning and workshop fabrication.
The structural basis may be entered as a spatial truss, while the connection field records the coarse-bolt shear role. These entries describe construction class and joint method; they do not alter the duty code or the form code already assigned. A taxonomy sheet can reserve columns for duty code, form code, route index, truss class, and joint class. The geometry field answers what outline is present, while the duty field answers what the location does. The classification card should keep geometry, function, structure, and connection as separate fields.
