Power Line Pylons

These lattice towers are space trusses built from angle steel members. Every main leg is a single equal-angle bar or a built-up angle section, and the whole body holds together with shear bolts instead of site welds. Tower feet are welded from plate into a compact assembly, then bolted to the anchor stubs. By head shape, power line pylons here fall into wine-glass, cat-head, upper-T, dry and barrel forms, each tuned to a different span condition. Before packing we dip each member in hot zinc, so the steel arrives at site with a finished corrosion coat. On shorter towers we add climbing spikes along one leg, so riggers can climb without a separate ladder.

Section weight stays low enough for pickup trucks to haul into remote corridors. Each set of power line pylons ships with a numbered member bundle, so crews on the ground know which leg goes where without digging through drawings. Because members bolt instead of weld, a field repair only needs a wrench and a spare plate, not a welding set.

You will see these power line pylons on 110 kV and 220 kV overhead lines crossing farmland, rivers and hills. We tune the steel role to the job: suspension towers for straight runs, tension towers for angle sites, terminal towers at line ends, transposition towers for phase swapping, and crossing towers for long river spans.
